SCADA monitoring for Vestas wind turbines

Orbital’s cloud-based SCADA solution, OrbiSCADA, can now monitor and control V27, V29, V34, V39, V42, V44, V47, and V52 Vestas wind turbines.

Several Vestas wind turbines are at the moment monitored through outdated SCADA solutions that are about to expire. With Orbital’s new solution, the wind turbines get connected to OrbiSCADA, a future-proof platform that helps to ensure uptime, production, and earnings.

The gateway solution consists of a hardware kit with a future-proof 4G modem, SIM card, antenna, cables, and power supply. The hardware is mounted in the wind turbine’s control cabinet by the service provider or the wind turbine owner with support from Orbital.

The wind turbine then connects to OrbiSCADA, and the users log in from a smartphone, tablet, and computer. The annual license includes up to 3 users so wind turbine owners, service companies, and a third party can access the wind turbine.

In addition to the fact that users can log in and follow, OrbiSCADA also makes sure to send an e-mail if an error occurs or the connection is lost. Thus, users are immediately made aware and in some cases, it is possible to correct errors through the system to avoid a service visit at the site.
